Get off the Bench

On many occasions I had to comfort my son; after one of his sporting events he would be upset for one reason or another. After all my other advice failed to make him feel better I would tell him you could always just run on the field or run on the court, this would get a laugh out of him. I would ask him who’s going to stop him? He said the coach would take him out, but he was already out so what did he have to lose? Nothing! But he had a lot to gain.

Opportunities work like this; often times we miss opportunities because we are afraid to come off the bench, afraid to try something new or different. In your life you do not need permission to come off the bench and join the game. You have total control of how much playing time you get. Don’t let fear of failing, fear of ridicule, doubt, and uncertainty be the reason why you missed this whole game called life. Whatever it is you have been hoping for, been inquisitive about, or have been wanting to try, go for it, who’s going to stop you?

You have nothing to lose, matter of fact you are already at a loss because you are just sitting on the bench, waiting for permission. If you want to go back to school, go! If you want a new job, apply for it! If you want to sail around the world, pack up! If you want to write a book, do it! Whatever it is that you want to do, DO IT! DO IT! DO IT!

You can give me every reason in the world as to why you can’t fulfill the vision God gave to you, but the only thing really stopping you, is you! Today I challenge you to look beyond you fears and beyond your doubts and GET OFF THE BENCH!

“being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus” -Philippians 1:6-

I am a hard working mother of three, I truly enjoy living the life that God designed for me. My goal in life is to inspire others to look beyond the right now and see how wonderful life can be when you truly start living.

  1. I really needed this post tonight. I have been feeling scared to try new things because I am scared of being judged and failing. This has encouraged me to continue working on my freelance writing career. 🙂
